José Cid returns to the stage for a very special concert on October 15, 2021.
6 years after having performed in the emblematic Campo Pequeno arena, the awarded Portuguese artist, winner of a Latin Grammy of Musical Excellence, returns to this stage with his Quintet and two very special guests: Tozé Brito and Mário Mata.
José Cid effortlessly adapted the influence of Anglo-Saxon popular music to the original style of Portuguese pop-rock. In 1956, the emergence of his cover band Os Babies marked a turning point in pop-rock music in Portugal. With the Quarteto 1111, he created the foundations of Portuguese rock, with a strong psychedelic hue and innovative releases such as the great 1967 hit “A Lenda De El-Rei D. Sebastião”.
As early as 1978 and solo, he released “10000 Years Later Between Venus and Mars”, widely considered a masterpiece of progressive rock. Upon reaching a new stage of musical maturity in the 1980s, Cid returned his songbook to the roots of Portugal in the haunting “Fado de Semper”. With dozens of successes in his career, he continues to be one of the great and most important names in music in Portugal, who renews himself with each album or live show.
The artist has been preparing a two and a half hour show for the public, which will not lack the usual hits as well as some of his most recent themes.
José Cid thus promises, on October 15, 2021, an unforgettable night in Campo Pequeno.
