An interpretive center dedicated to the writer José Luís Peixoto will be created in his native land, the village of Galveias, in the municipality of Ponte de Sor (Portalegre), in an investment of 387 thousand euros
The Municipality of Ponte de Sor, through the Parish Council of Galveias, obtained from Turismo de Portugal the opinion eligible for the application submitted with the project by the author and coordinator of Inês Florindo Lopes; whose framework is based on the valorization of the endogenous resources of the regions and the development of new tourist services. The investment is of a cultural nature, with the purpose of dynamizing the territory for tourism and in turn creating value with the local community.
The project intends to take the opportunity to exalt the work of the writer José Luís Peixoto, born in Galveias, known for being the youngest author awarded with Literary Awards and recognized as one of the most notable writers in the Portuguese language of his generation, whose works are translated in the most different languages.
Literary Tourism is a strategic product for the consolidation of Portugal as a tourist destination, promoting a new way of visiting Portugal based on the places that inspired Portuguese authors, on the works with greater resonance at a global level and on the creation of literary scripts.
The book «Galveias» by José Luís Peixoto, will assume the central role, since it presents an interesting discourse regarding the identity of the Vila, through a real psychological portrait of the living and experiences of the interior of the Alentejo.
The Interactive and Dynamic Literary Route will be an invitation to enter and discover Vila de Galveias through images and specificities in the form of literary approaches, in the search for the symbolic, the descriptive by geographical content, and the creation of memories of places.
