The multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer, José Manuel David present live, during the month of July, his most recent work, “Cantar a Eito”. The tour will take place in the auditoriums of the Fnac chain of stores in the greater Lisbon area.
All showcases will start at 5 pm and the dates and locations will be as follows:
- Day 1 – Fnac Chiado
- Day 2 – Fnac Vasco da Gama
- Day 16 – Fnac Almada
- Day 22 – Fnac Cascais
- Day 29 – Fnac Colombo
- Day 30 – Fnac Oeiras
After a long and prestigious musical career made up of collaborations and participation in various projects, José Manuel David recently debuted in a record in his own name, entitled “Cantar a Eito”.
Composed of fifteen songs, the album includes compositions by the musician himself and also versions, many of them, for some themes of the popular Portuguese songbook.
Accompanying José Manuel David in this project, we can find, among many others, names such as Rui Vaz, Fernando Gomes, José Barros, Sofia David, and João Afonso, in the voices; Artur Fernandes, on concertina, André Sousa Machado, on drums, or Guilherme Banza, on Portuguese guitar.
About José Manuel David
Born in Vila Franca de Xira, José Manuel David graduated in Germanic Philology at the Classical University of Lisbon in 1981. He was one of the founders of the Group for the Collection and Dissemination of Traditional Portuguese Music Almanaque da Juventude Musical Portuguesa, in 1975. founds the Sementes group, which is also dedicated to the collection and dissemination of traditional Portuguese music, where he continued the work developed at the Almanaque, until 1985. In 1993 he joined the Gaiteiros de Lisboa Group, having since participated in numerous shows as an author, -instrumentalist, and producer. Author of music for theater and cinema. Some of his works are recorded on the disc, with emphasis on “Descantes e Cantaréus” and “Sementes”, with Grupo Almanaque (1979 and 1986), several with Gaiteiros de Lisboa (since 1995).
