José Ramalho is world champion in K1

This Thursday, Portuguese canoeist José Ramalho was crowned World Marathon Champion in the K1 ‘short race’ competition taking place in Pitesti, Romania.

Ramalho, 39, completed his race in 14.19.85 minutes, beating Danish Mads Pedersen by 3.28 seconds and Spaniard Ivan Alonso by 8.74.

The Portuguese will be back in competition on Saturday, in the 30-kilometer race.
