Young volunteers promote the environment in Setúbal
Between the 5th and 9th of July, youngsters aged between 18 and 30 can participate in the second edition of Consciente(mente)!, a volunteer project to promote the protection of the environment, with actions in the five parishes of the municipality.
The project, developed by the Youth Division of Setúbal City Council under the Youth Volunteer Program for Nature and Forests of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, is intended to carry out activities to promote biodiversity and raise awareness of the population to environmental issues.
Depending on the parishes where they will participate, volunteers will create flower beds to promote the presence of pollinators, design birdhouses, build hotels for insects, clean and make sculptures with the garbage collected, and carry out questionnaires in riverside areas to raise awareness among traders and fishermen for environmental issues.
The project, with the support of the five parish councils in the municipality of Setúbal, guarantees participants a daily allowance of 12 euros, snacks, insurance, and a certificate of participation.
The activities take place in July, from 5th to 9th in the parish of Sado, from 12th to 16th in the União das Freguesias de Setúbal, from 19th to 23rd in Gambia-Pontes-Alto da Guerra, from 26th to 30th in the territory of São Sebastião and, in August, between the 2nd and 6th, in Azeitão.
Registration is free, by filling out an online form. More information can be obtained from the Youth Division of the Municipality of Setúbal.
