Juan Díaz Canales, from “Blacksad”, will be at Comic Con Portugal 2024

Madrid artists Juan Díaz Canales and Teresa Valero are two more names from the world of comics who will be present at Exponor in 2024.

Juan Díaz Canales trained as a designer at the now-defunct “Lápiz Azul” studio and, in 1996, founded the Tridente Animación studio with three colleagues, where he worked ten years on television series and feature films.

During the first years of his artistic training, he met Juanjo Guarnido and they decided to present a project in France: “Blacksad”, a police film starring a detective cat. The saga became a global bestseller, translated into more than twenty languages and won some of the most prestigious awards in the sector.

Teresa started in animation, working as a storyboard and layout artist on feature films and television series. Together with Juan Díaz Canales, she founded the Tridente Animation studio.

She began writing scripts for comics and created, in partnership with other artists, the works “Brujeando”, “Curiosity Shop” and “Gentlemind”. His first solo adventure, “Contrapaso”, a masterful comic thriller about Spain that the dictatorship wanted to silence, was acclaimed by critics and the public.

More talents, experiences and surprises are expected for the 10th edition of the biggest Iberian pop culture event. Fans can secure their ticket on the event’s official website.
