Júlio Ferreira was eliminated in the quarter-finals in the -80 kg category of the European taekowondo championships, in Sofia, Bulgaria by Spaniard Raul Martinez by 4-2, in a match that was very balanced, but that the Spanish athlete would win.

The Portuguese started to beat Alexandru Badea to reach the quarter-finals, and the Moldovan Aaron Cook in the round of 16, 22-15.
