Jury voted today for the semifinal of the 52nd Edition of the International EMMY Awards

composed of over 30 personalities from the Portuguese television industry, which took place this morning at the Lisbon City Hall

  • The panel of jurors included prominent figures from the three main television channels in Portugal – RTP, SIC, and TVI
  • The gala dinner will take place at the Carris Museum, starting at 7:00 PM, with more than 200 guests, including various personalities from the arts and culture in Portugal
  • Catarina Furtado and Gilmário Vemba (RTP), Cláudia Vieira and Ricardo Pereira (SIC), and Maria Cerqueira Gomes and Pedro Teixeira (TVI) will host the event

Lisbon hosted this Friday the 10th session of the Portuguese voting for the Semifinal of the International Emmy®️ Awards 2024, in the ‘Non-Scripted Entertainment’ category.

The viewing and voting session, which took place behind closed doors, brought together more than 30 personalities from the national television industry in the Archive Room of the City Hall, at the Lisbon City Hall.

This panel was responsible for evaluating the best candidates in the ‘Non-Scripted Entertainment’ category, among reality shows, game shows, and other formats presented worldwide.

The list of jurors who evaluated the candidate programs was composed of media executives from the Portuguese generalist television groups (RTP, SIC, and TVI) and Portuguese actors and presenters:

The winners of the ‘Non-Scripted Entertainment’ category and the other categories will be announced at the official ceremony of the International Emmy®️ Awards, which will take place on November 25, 2024, at the New York Hilton Midtown, in New York. The awards recognize the best television programs worldwide, awarded by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The commemorative Gala Dinner for the semi final takes place today at 7:00 PM at the Carris Museum, with the presence of Nathaniel Brendel, Jury Director of the Emmys. The event gathers about 220 guests from the three Portuguese generalist television channels, including prominent figures from the national cultural scene. Catarina Furtado and Gilmário Vemba (RTP), Cláudia Vieira and Ricardo Pereira (SIC), and Maria Cerqueira Gomes and Pedro Teixeira (TVI) will be the hosts of this ceremony.

Ten years of Portuguese presence

Since 2016, at the initiative of André Sampaio, ambassador of the International Academy of Television, Portugal has been on the stage for the semifinals of the International Emmy®️ Awards. This year marks the 10th edition of voting in the country, reinforcing the importance of national production on the international scene.

Portugal has been recognized on three occasions: with the soap operas ‘Meu Amor’ (TVI) in 2010, ‘Laços de Sangue’ (co-production SIC/TV Globo) in 2011, and ‘Ouro Verde’ (TVI) in 2018. Over the years, Portuguese productions have accumulated a total of 12 nominations for the International Emmy®️ Awards.
