Grammy-winning artist Kali Uchis releases her new English album, “Red Moon In Venus”.
“Love is the message,” Uchis explains of the new album. “‘Red Moon In Venus’ is a timeless and passionate expression of desire, heartbreak, faith, and honesty, reflecting the divine femininity of the moon and Venus. The moon and Venus work together to make key aspects of love and everyday life work smoothly. This body of work represents all levels of love – releasing people with love, bringing love into your life, and self-love. Many astrologers believe that the blood moon can make emotions swirl, and that’s what I felt best represented this body of work.”
“Red Moon In Venus” includes collaborations with Summer Walker, Don Toliver, and Omar Apollo, as well as previously revealed songs such as “Moonlight” and “I Wish You Roses”, which was released with a video directed by Cho Gi-Seok and was praised by PAPER as “luxurious” and “immaculately produced“.
Uchis went into the recording process with the intention of creating an album that felt timeless, could be enjoyed anytime, anywhere, and would remain meaningful over the years for both himself and his fans. “Red Moon In Venus” fluctuates between soul, R&B, pop, urban music, and more experimental textures. The result is an album that, as Uchis has perfected throughout his repertoire, transcends genres or classifications, a pure reflection of his soul.
Last year, Uchis won three Billboard Latin Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, and an American Music Award. In 2021, Uchis took home his first Billboard Latin Music Award for the critically acclaimed album, “Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞”, released in 2020, which includes the hit “telepatía”, which adds more than 2 billion streams to date and is the longest-running Spanish song by a solo artist on the Billboard Hot 100. That same year, Uchis took home his first Grammy, as well as Premios Nuestra Tierra and Univision Premios Juventud, was on the cover of “Office Magazine”, performed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and toured throughout North America with Tyler, The Creator.
Growing up between Virginia and Colombia, Kali Uchis rose to prominence with her project “Por Vida” in 2015. Uchis‘ 2018 debut album “Isolation” received widespread critical acclaim and was featured on top Best of the Year from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NPR, and Vulture, among others. Uchis has collaborated and shared stages with SZA, Gorillaz, Jorja Smith, Diplo, Major Lazer, Snoop Dogg, Kaytranada, and Leon Bridges and has toured the world, with highly praised shows at Tropicalia, Coachella, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, among others.
