Kel-P releases new single for the summer

Kel-P – the GRAMMY Award-winning super-producer behind Afrobeat’s biggest hits – just released a single and video, “What Have You Done?”. In February he released his first EP as a singer, “Bully Season Vol.1”, full of tropical odes to women, with the aim of taking them to the dance floor.

In “What Have You Done?”, Kel-P wants everyone to keep dancing. “’What Have You Done?’ it’s a special song for me”, revealed Kel-P. “I was in Los Angeles with The Elements and I asked them if they had an uptempo production, because everyone knows that what I love most is making people dance. They were halfway through this production, so we sat down and finished it together. At that moment, the most important thing for me was to put as much of my influence and culture into the song as possible. But it was the beat, the essence of the song, that inspired the entire artistic direction of this single.”

To capture the magnetic synchronization of the place with the bodies in motion, the video was filmed in the heat of an underground party in Lisbon, a city that Kel-P likes a lot. The video was filmed and produced by Pedro Dórdio, who has worked with Ivandro, Ana Moura, Chico da Tina, Bispo, ProfJam, among others.

It was also in Lisbon that Kel-P participated in his friend Richie Campbell’s concert at the Altice Arena, performing for the first time live, in front of 17,000 people, the songs from his first EP accompanied by a band of 8 musicians. Other recent highlights include Kel-P’s participation in the soundtrack of the box office hit “Creed III”, produced by J. Cole’s Dreamville, both as an artist and as a producer. Kel-P is getting ready to release his second EP, “Bully Season Vol. two”.
