What if, right now, where you are, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, or another of those murderous despots that history continues to regurgitate came in? You are face-to-face with him.
What wins? The fear with which they build their trail of violence? Or would he be able to challenge him, questioning the unbearable consequences of his actions? The question that we, snuggled up in our democracies, must ask is how far are we capable of going to defend our way of life. Only then can we give it true value.
This is the premise of “Doktor Doom”, the new single by Kiko & the Blues Refugees, a fortuitous meeting with one of these historical (or current…) figures in the form of a dynamic blues challenge, in a good mood and also willing to combat. “So come on man, just do what’s right” And you? Did it whistle to the side?
The band made up of musician, composer, and producer Kiko Pereira, António Mão de Ferro (guitars), Jorge Filipe Santos (keyboards), Carl Minnemann (bass), and João Cunha (drums) released 2021 the debut album “Threadbare” considered by the national and European critics as one of the “best of the year”.
The new album, already in production, is scheduled for release by the end of 2023!
The next opportunity to see Kiko & The Blues Refugees live is on the 25th of February, at 7 pm, in the next edition of the event “Simplesmente…Vinho”, which takes place at Alfândega do Porto.
