Artistic curatorship in Porto

After Klaudio Hoshai’s artistic residency at B.Leza, in Lisbon, the Angolan musician is now curating music at WOW, Porto.

This is the artist’s statement in the two main Portuguese cities, and he also has a series of concerts scheduled across Europe at the beginning of 2025.

This action by the Angolan artist means the return of live music to Angels’s Share, WOW’s wine bar, starting this Friday, the 17th: to enjoy the best view of Porto, in a cultural block with seven museums, countless restaurants and 365 days of action per year. The presentations take place between 10 pm and 1 am and a schedule is already scheduled until the end of March.

The singer and composer, considered by many to be Angola’s most promising voice at the moment, invited a diverse range of artists, who promise different rhythms on each musical night.

Klaudio Hoshai proposes to interpret Angolan and Cape Verdean classics, from the semba, kizomba, morna, coladeira, zouk and other styles, Lilian Raquel and Cláudio César Ribeiro will move masterfully between bossa nova, Brazilian popular music and new Brazilian popular music, Purple Radio will present classic themes from the worlds of pop, rock and soul, spicing them up with a blues-funk flavor, Rui David will treat the audience to good Portuguese music and Miss Jones will immerse herself in the classic atmosphere of jazz, blues and soul.

European Tour
Klaudio Hoshai lives in Lisbon and has been on a European tour for 18 consecutive months, with stops in France, Italy, Poland, Holland, and Switzerland, among other countries, as well as numerous performances in Portugal. At the moment, there are also scheduled dates in Spain, Germany, Romania and the UK.

The artist is in a phase of hard work and great news. He performed twice in 2024 in Cape Verde, first at AME – Atlantic Music Expo, in Praia, where he received warm remarks from the media and music professionals present; and then in Mindelo, in front of 11 thousand people, at the São João festivities.

Likewise, in addition to his presence at numerous African music and culture festivals, he also took to the stage at the CCB, at the FeLiCidade Festival. He released his full show performed at AME on YouTube, as well as making available 5 new singles, sung live and in which he interprets classics from the traditional Angolan songbook, taking all the ancestry of the original songs, remixing them and merging them in his younger interpretation. , but equally profound.

The energy, the vocal technique, the interaction with the audience, the Angolanness and the African soul that he exudes on stage are increasingly visible and audible to all those who follow his career.

The artistic residency at B.Leza, called “Klaudio Hoshai invites”, held 5 shows in 12 months, inviting other big names in Angolan music to the stage, such as Kizua Gourgel or Gari Seinedima, for example.

Viral on Social Media
In early December 2024, a new video of Klaudio Hoshai went viral on social media. In 48 hours, a brief interpretation of his most recent single reached 200 thousand views on TikTok, with countless shares on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

In the video, Klaudio Hoshai sings the first verse of the single “Emigrau”: a robust semba that narrates, in the first person, the difficulties of an emigrant to establish himself abroad.
The same video was also shared on TraceToca’s Instagram, achieving record numbers there.

A year ago, another video of yours was hugely popular on social media. At that time, Klaudio Hoshai reinterpreted a classic of Angolan music, singing in Kimbundu: “Desespero”, by Robertinho.
With a long career in Angola, where he composed for great African musicians, Klaudio Hoshai has a very strong and consolidated presence on social media, with 90 thousand followers on Instagram and several thousand on TikTok and Facebook. It has received a lot of media attention, with around 100 appearances on television, radio and in the press in the last 14 months.
