Kovacevich and Hopkinson Smith confirmed at Capuchos Music Festival
The program, which will run until July 3, includes performances by musicians such as pianist Stephen Kovacevich, lute player Hopkinson Smith, flutist Nuno Inácio and clarinetist Telmo Costa, as well as Portuguese and foreign ensembles, with the aim of crossing five centuries of music history, as many as those of the convent, which will also host the interpretation of “O Cantico do Sol”, by Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina.
Pianist Alfred Brendel, who withdrew from the concert halls in 2008, after a 60-year career that has placed him among the world’s greatest performers, reappears at the festival for a conference, to be held on Saturday, on his career in music, and for a recital of his poetic work, accompanied by his son Adrian Brendel, on Sunday.
The Festival was founded by José Adelino Tacanho, in 1981, who died in September 2004, and who took over the artistic direction until 2001, when it held the last edition.
