The “School Center of Light, Lagos” was inaugurated. It is the culmination of a 3.1 million euro municipal project that was co-financed by the ERDF under the CRESC Algarve 2020 operational programme.
The new school space – provided for in the Educational Charter of Lagos – has structural and functional conditions that allow it to meet the requirements of the “full-time school”, providing educational reception for students, with pedagogical, socio-educational and cultural aspects, characteristic of school centers .
In the context of the county and the region itself, this intervention was assumed as a priority investment, since the expansion of the supply capacity allows for a definitive end to the double regime school hours, with normal hours being practiced in all establishments of education in the municipality’s public network, guaranteeing equity and educational success for children.
The building now inaugurated, and which will come into operation in a few weeks (in school 2021/2022), has eight rooms, four of them for basic education, two for kindergarten, and in the rest there will be a center to support learning.
The new equipment was built on a parcel of municipal land located at a central point, which allows quick access to all urban agglomerations in the parish, an important aspect, since with its entry into operation the old EB1 da Luz and EB1 will be deactivated +JI of Espiche.
