L’AND Vineyards brings together Chef David Jesus and Quinta do Monte d‘Oiro on a wine and gastronomic expedition

On Saturday, February 22, L’AND Vineyards will welcome the wine and gastronomic expedition from Quinta do Monte d’Oiro for a journey of creativity, unique flavours, exceptional wines and a new garden to discover at the MAPA restaurant.

This expedition, which brings together the Montemor-o-Novo wine hotel with the Alenquer wine producer, was carried out with the utmost precision and rigour and is divided into two parts: a Masterclass and exclusive tasting of rare wines and a gastronomic lunch at the MAPA restaurant, where the wines of Quinta do Monte d’Oiro and the cuisine of Chef David Jesus are the hosts. You can add a stay in one of the suites at the hotel, a member of Relais & Châteaux, to these two experiences and make the most of the experience.

For true wine fans, the first moment is unmissable and requires quick reservations, as there are limited to 10 places. The Quinta do Monte d’Oiro Masterclass starts at noon and consists of a horizontal tasting with a unique selection of wines from the 2011 harvest (the year the hotel opened), showcasing not only the identity of the estate’s terroir but also the diversity of profiles based on the different grape varieties/plots planted. The tasting, guided by Francisco Bento dos Santos, is made up of exclusive and special labels, not available on the market, and therefore an opportunity not to be missed.

The second moment is scheduled for 1:30 pm, with a welcome cocktail and wine and gastronomic lunch at MAPA with a tasting menu created by David Jesus, accompanied by Quinta do Monte d’Oiro wine pairing. The menu begins with Tuna from the Azores, Asian marinade, seaweed pickles and tempura, accompanied by Quinta do Monte d’Oiro Arinto 2021 wine (Single Vineyard, Limited Edition), followed by Carabineiro from the Algarve, white beans, trotters and chanterelles, combined with the Quinta do Monte d’Oiro Reserva Branco 2022 label. This is followed by the first meat dish, a crispy suckling pig, skewer seasoning, smoked eggplant and grilled lettuce, paired with Quinta do Monte iro Touriga Nacional 2021 (Single Vineyard, Limited Edition); and a second, the Novilho Alentejano, trumpets, chives and black truffle, along with the Quinta do Monte d’Oiro Reserva Tinto 2021. As a sweet moment, the classic Bebinca, coffee, rum and, finally, the Encharcada, almond and citrus fruits.

And how can you be part of this tempting wine and gastronomic expedition to Montemor-o-Novo?

The event is divided into three possibilities – 3 travel plans – depending on each person’s tastes and availability, with lunch being the common point and can be associated with the Masterclass, a 1 or 2 night stay at the hotel, or both.
