Leça da Palmeira promotes a historical recreation about Pirates to see with the family
The Nossa Senhora das Neves Fort, in Leça da Palmeira, will be the target of an attempted “assault” by a pirate crew. The story, caricatured, is part of the historical recreation “Os Piratas” promoted by the Municipality of Matosinhos.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the format of the event had to be changed and adapted to a new format, in order to comply with the safety rules of the General Directorate of Health.
On August 13th and 14th, there will be shows for children and adults at different times. Admission is free but limited to a maximum of 250 people per session. As such, it is mandatory to collect tickets at the Municipality of Matosinhos, which can be done in the 3 working days prior to the show.
For adults, on Friday and Saturday, at 10 pm, there will be a show, with around 50 artists, which portrays the story of an attempted robbery of the Nossa Senhora das Neves Fort by a crew of pirates.
For the younger ones, on Saturday, there will be a double session, one at 3:00 pm and another at 5:00 pm, of the interactive show “Os Piratinhas”, which tells the story of a pirate crew in search of treasure.
Also for children and their families, on August 14th, the Educational Services for Culture will promote at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm artistic games and challenges, in safety.
In addition to making known the county’s historical and cultural heritage, this important historical recreation contributes to attracting tourism and boosting the local economy, particularly in the catering sector.
