CONVERSATIONS WITH DEATH – Choreographed recital

  • 16th and 17th JANUARY | Thursday and Friday, 8 pm
  • 60’ | Age rating: M/6 Target audience: M/12 | PT and EN subtitles

Conversations with death summon its gentle, hypnotic, yet relentless “apparition” in the dark, silent night with the cycle by American composer George Crumb (1979), based on poems by Walt Whitman. This embryonic cycle of these conversations was premiered as part of the Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble’s concert “Three Women”, at the Croma Festival 2023. You will be accompanied, in this new line-up, by some of Schubert’s most extraordinary songs – the great Father of the German Lied, also in dialogue with death – sometimes dramatic, sometimes funereal, sometimes sweet. The highlights are “Margarita ao Loom” based on Goethe’sFaust”, which the young Schubert wrote when he was just 17 years old, and “The Girl and Death”.
