Liliana Cá finished in fifth place in the discus throw
Liliana Cá was, next Monday to secure the third medal for Portugal in the Olympic Games, which run in the Japanese capital of Tokyo, at the end of the final of the discus throw competition in the fifth position.
The athlete of the sports association new lights closed the contest with a mark of 63.93 meters, less 1.79 meters than the third classified, the Cuban Yaime Pérez, and less 1.08 meters than the fourth, the Croatian Sandra Perkovic.
The proof was marked by the intense rain that became felt in Tokyo, which he even forced the interruption at the entrance to the third attempt. When returning, Liliana Cá recorded three null throws, and eventually abdicated from the last.
The Portuguese athlete takes, thus, home the Olympic diploma. The American Valarie Allman won the gold medal, with a mark of 68.98 meters, and the German Kristin Pudenz A Silver, with a new personal record of 66.86 meters.
