This second edition of the Coala Festival Portugal could not be announced in the best way: Liniker is currently the most popular pop artist in Brazil due to her latest album CAJU (which has more than 100 million plays on all streaming platforms) and the tour that has passed through numerous cities always sold out.

But, Liniker didn’t start his career now… The first incursion into the world of music was made with Liniker and the Caramelows who released their first EP in 2015 called Cru followed by the album Remonta the following year. Two years later, Liniker edited his first solo recording called Indigo Borboleta Anil which features Milton Nascimento, Tássia Reis, DJ Nyack, Tulipa Ruiz, Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica, Letieres Leite and Orkestra Rumpilezz. The album received three nominations at the 2022 Latin Grammy and won the “Best Brazilian Popular Music Album” award, making Liniker the first transgender artist to win a Latin Grammy.

Liniker is a trans singer, composer and actress, which makes all this success with the public and media, not only the Brazilian as the world, give more visibility to the defence of the rights of everyone indifferent of the gender they identify with. In fact, a very important act was the fact that Liniker had been assigned to chair 51 of the Brazilian Academy of Culture, occupied by Elza Soares until her death in 2022. Liniker was the first trans artist to have this same honour.
