12 years after their last tour, Scissor Sisters came to Lisbon for a night of dancing and joy at MEO Kalorama.
The Scissor Sisters, an American pop-rock band from New York, formed in 2000, quickly reached the top of the charts with their glam rock, disco, nu-disco, electroclash and pop. Their catchy melodies, extravagant stage presence and witty, sometimes provocative lyrics have won over fans all over the world, and they were in Bela Vista to see them.

The band was founded by Jake Shears (vocals) and Babydaddy (various instruments), but quickly included Ana Matronic (vocals), Del Marquis (guitar, bass) and Paddy Boom (drums, who Randy Real later replaced).
The band draws inspiration from Elton John, ABBA, Bee Gees, Blondie, David Bowie, Queen, among others, and rose to prominence with their Grammy-nominated disco version of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” and their self-titled debut album, Scissor Sisters (2004).
The album was a huge success, particularly in the United Kingdom, where it reached number one and was the best-selling album of 2004, earning them three BRIT Awards in 2005.
Their music is known for its high-energy, over-the-top aesthetic and often explicit or playful exploration of sexuality and LGBTQ+ themes, reflecting their origins in the New York gay club scene. Some of their best-known songs include “Take Your Mama”, “Filthy/Gorgeous”, and their UK number-one single, “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'” (co-written with Elton John).
The band announced an indefinite hiatus in 2012, following the release of their fourth studio album, Magic Hour. In late 2024, they announced a reunion, but now as a trio (Jake Shears, Babydaddy and Del Marquis) for a 20th anniversary tour of the UK and Ireland in May 2025.
