Lisbon celebrates Freedom with Vitorino and guests, videomapping and fireworks

Terreiro do Paço, April 24 at 10 pm

Four days to go. On the 24th of April, starting at 10 pm, Terreiro do Paço is the main stage for the celebration of Freedom in Lisbon, bringing together Vitorino and several guest artists with more than 20 songs, in an unprecedented show under the motto Abril em Flor.

Part of the April Festivities and commissioned by the Lisbon City Council and EGEAC, April in Flower brings together themes by authors such as Zeca Afonso, Adriano Correia de Oliveira or Sérgio Godinho, who, in addition to Vitorino, will be interpreted by Mafalda Veiga, Márcia, Luís Trigacheiro, Zeca Medeiros and the Cantadeiras and Cantadores do Redondo.

Still on stage, but through video recordings, Aldina Duarte, Capicua, Carlão, and Tim will recite the poetry of Manuel Alegre, Sophia de Mello Breyner, Jonas Negalha, and Ruy Belo.

Accompanying Vitorino and the guests will be musicians: Sérgio Costa, Rui Alves, Carlos Salomé, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, Daniel Neto, and Guilherme Duque, directed by Tomás Pimentel.

António Jorge Gonçalves is the author of the dynamic scenography that will punctuate the entire show with live drawings, created from a selection of photographs, which will be projected on the stage.

A special moment is also reserved for the end of the show, with the last theme of the concert to be accompanied by a fireworks session, illuminating the skies of Lisbon around midnight, thus celebrating the 49 years in the best way possible, of the Carnation Revolution and Freedom.

Before the show, the OCUBO studio brings us Memórias de Abril, a video-mapping show that for about 11 minutes will take the audience on a journey through some of the events that marked the before and after of the Revolution and the main episodes of the 25th of April 1974.

Until the end of the month, the April Festivities reserve other cultural proposals, including music, exhibitions, theatre, cinema, conversations, readings, routes, visits, and urban art, to be enjoyed on the street or in municipal and cultural spaces managed by the City Council of Lisbon and by EGEAC.
