The Portuguese singer and songwriter has been carving out a niche in national and international music, and yesterday she took another step forward with a strong and confident performance.
Iolanda continues to amaze on stage, with increasingly confident performances, and yesterday she demonstrated this once again at NOS Alive, where she took the WTF Clubbing Stage. We heard “CALMA,” “ÁGUA,” “Quando você for embora,” “OLHAR P’RA BAIXO,” “Assim,” “P’RA SERMOS 1 AGORA,” “Cura,” and “Ensina-me a voar.”
She also had special guest Carolina Deslandes, who took the stage to sing “Tento na língua” (Trying in the tongue), and finished with “COMPLICADO,” “Contigo,” “Grito,” and “Laurinda” in an energetic show with a good crowd.
Iolanda, whose full name is Iolanda Costa, was born in Figueira da Foz and raised in Pampilhosa da Serra. Her musical journey is marked by a blend of pop, R&B, soul, and electronic touches, all with a strong connection to the roots of traditional Portuguese music, especially fado.
She has an expressive and versatile voice and has participated in several television talent shows, such as “Ídolos” (2014) and “Fator X” (2015), which gave her visibility before embarking on her solo career.
Iolanda’s most notable moment was her victory at the 2024 Festival da Canção with the song “Grito.” With this song, she represented Portugal in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, where she placed 10th in the final.
Iolanda has been building her discography with works that demonstrate her artistic evolution, releasing her debut EP, Cura, in 2023.
