Lisbon welcomes Morabeza Lx: A new Cape Verdean cultural event
May 3, 2025, from 11 am to 9 pm at the Lisbon Museum
On May 3, 2025, from 11 am to 9 pm, the Lisbon Museum will host the multidisciplinary event Morabeza Lx, a vibrant celebration of Cape Verdean culture. Admission is free.
The initiative’s main objective is to promote cultural exchange and highlight the gastronomic, musical, literary and artistic wealth of the Cape Verde archipelago. The organisation expects more than 1,500 people to attend the free entry event throughout the day.

Among the confirmed artists there will be a long-awaited show by Tito Paris. Throughout the day, Batucadeiras das Olaias and Juvino Varela will also take to the stage. The event will also feature readings of Cape Verdean stories, workshops and the screening of the film “Manga Di Terra” by award-winning Portuguese-Swiss director Basil da Cunha.

Morabeza Lx, in addition to music and cinema, will feature several other activities that will allow the public to learn about and experience Cape Verdean traditions. Highlights of the program include:
- Gastronomy: A journey through the authentic flavors of Cape Verde, with typical dishes such as cachupa, feijão pedra and fish pie. In addition, there will be the “Best Cachupa in Lisbon” competition, where chefs and cooks will present their versions of the iconic dish.
- Cultural Workshop: Interactive workshops on traditional dances, such as batuque and kizomba, as well as a space dedicated to Cape Verdean crafts, where participants can make typical pieces using sustainable materials.
- Readings and Literature: An environment dedicated to Cape Verdean literature, with reading sessions, storytelling and the presence of writers who will share their works and reflections on the culture of the archipelago.
- Painting Exhibition: Artistic exhibition with paintings that portray the daily life, landscapes and cultural identity of the islands of Cape Verde.
- Cape Verdean Products Market: A space where visitors can buy typical products from the archipelago, including handicrafts, clothing and traditional delicacies.

Morabeza Lx is a unique opportunity to celebrate and value Cape Verdean culture in Lisbon, providing an enriching encounter between different traditions and promoting an environment of sharing and discovery.
Participation in the event is free, limited to the capacity of the space.
