Lisboa String Trio and Syro distinguished at the IPMA awards

The International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) were created in the city of New Bedford, in the United States, to recognize Portuguese and Lusophone music, and the award ceremony took place on Saturday, with performances by names such as Carminho, Piruka, Cremilda Medina and Anjos.

At the ceremony, prizes were awarded in 14 categories, with the Portuguese musician Diogo Lopes, who signs as Syro, winning two distinctions: The best pop performance, with the theme “Acordar”, and the best performance in quarantine.

Maria Monda won the prize in the area of traditional music, the Lisboa String Trio in fado, while The RedBeds were recognized as New Talent.

The public vote went to Lookalike, with the theme “Amar do Zero“.
