On The Hives’ return to Portugal, Yard Act and Snõõper were responsible for the opening act.
Yard Act is an English post-punk band formed in Leeds, West Yorkshire, in 2019. They quickly gained notoriety in the UK for their energetic sound, mixing a danceable rhythm with satirical and spoken-word lyrics.

The Yard Act is associated with the new wave of British rock, which combines post-punk music with sharp social commentary, following in the footsteps of bands like Dry Cleaning, Fontaines D.C., and Shame.
Vocalist James Smith is the central figure of the band. His vocal style is not sung, but spoken with an ironic and cynical tone, often assuming the persona of different characters. The lyrics are the main attraction, ridiculing modern life, consumerism, gentrification, and British politics with intelligence and dark humour.

Despite the cynicism in the lyrics, the music is marked by a rhythmic quality, built upon minimalist yet hypnotic bass and drum lines that invite dancing.
Their debut album, The Overload, released in 2022, was critically acclaimed and reached number two on the UK album charts. In 2024, they released Where’s My, their second album, which maintained their distinctive sound.
Snõõper

The art-punk band Snõõper was the other band to open for The Hive, from Nashville, Tennessee, USA, and with their contagious energy, they gained a reputation for their fast-paced music, visual style, and chaotic, performance-filled live shows.
Snõõper’s sound is a frenetic and fun mix of various genres, often characterised by Egg Punk, a microgenre of punk rock known for its short and impactful songs, minimalist yet pulsating instrumentation, and quirky, often satirical or nonsensical lyrics.

Post-Punk/Synth Punk is another genre explored by Snõõper, a raw intensity of punk rock with the use of electronic elements, keyboards, and a crisp production, often with a metallic sound.
The band was formed in 2020 by vocalist Blair Tramel (who is also a visual/video artist) and guitarist Connor Cummins, and they released their music through Third Man Records (Jack White’s label).

Super Snõõper, released in 2023, is the band’s debut album, well-received by critics and featured on several “Best Rock Albums of 2023” lists. Worldwide (2025) is their second album, which continues their journey through Post-Punk/Synth Punk and Egg Punk.
