The Lisbon Book Fair is usually held in May and June, but the 90th edition had to be postponed due to covid-19, in a year considered catastrophic by APEL, which estimates losses in the sector between 30 and 35 million euros.
Due to the pandemic, there will be rules for access and circulation and handling of books, according to a manual of good practices distributed by APEL to the participants.
The capacity on the fair grounds, in Parque Eduardo VII, will be limited to 3,300 people simultaneously, complying with the distance rules imposed by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
This year, there will be even less catering spaces, the cultural program associated with the fair has been reduced and will only take place in auditoriums, with prior registration and limited capacity.
The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, participates in the inauguration ceremony, scheduled for 17h00.
