The singer/songwriter from south London, Lola Young, invites the American rapper Lil Yachty to her new song, “Charlie”.
A captivating collaboration that showcases the artistic talent of both Lola and Lil Yachty, “Charlie” is the product of an organic and exciting partnership between two artists who subvert creative boundaries. Like many, Lil Yachty became a fan of Lola’s music because of its challenging filmed content and productions. Along with this release, Lola lends her voice to “Like Him,” taken from the new album by Tyler, The Creator, CHROMAKOPIA.
Earlier this year, Lola released her critically acclaimed album This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway. The album marks a notable shift in Lola’s sound as an artist. It was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by her friend and collaborator Solomonophic (Remi Wolf, BROCKHAMPTON, Dominic Fike). From Lola’s recent work, previous singles have been released, including “Wish You Were Dead,” “Conceited,” and “Messy,” with the album full of kinetic energy and lyrically fueled by anger, passion, narrative talent, and comedic scorn.
