Losses in construction income amount to € 1,365/month

Professionals in the civil construction sector (62%) say they are very affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic and 31% said they had monthly income drops in the order of € 1,000, on average, each professional lost € 1,365/month, reveals Fixando after surveying 11,200 industry professionals on its platform, from June 22 to July 2.

The survey also says that 24% of professionals are out of work, due to the slowdown in the market, that is, in June there was even less work than in April and May and that today’s jobs are much smaller than usual.

The Fixando platform saw an increase in the demand for construction-related services, in the order of 38% in the second quarter of 2020 when compared to the same period in 2019.

“The average value per transaction increased by € 909 and the average value per hour increased by € 10 compared to the same period in 2019,” said Alice Nunes, director of Business Development at Fixando.

The most sought after services in the construction area, according to the same source, were Energy Certification, Cleaning Service, Gardening and Lawns, Renovations and Construction, Upholsterers and Painting.

These results reveal, on the one hand, the growth in demand for traditionally smaller services, with a higher hourly cost than larger projects and, on the other hand, the abrupt transition to digital and the emergence of service contracting platforms as an alternative to the usual forms of business. Although this business model is not adopted by many of the professionals linked to construction, often more inflexible when compared to professionals in other areas, we see online as a hope for the recovery of this business sector and also an opportunity for new business. , safer and with a higher monetary volume”, concludes the same responsible.
