A concert of the singer Sérgio Godinho and the inauguration of a monument are some of the initiatives prepared by the municipality of Loures, in the district of Lisbon, to commemorate the 45th anniversary of April 25, was announced today.
Loures Municipal Vice-President Paulo Piteira (CDU) said that this year’s schedule to celebrate April 25 will be “very intense, diversified and prolonged.”
“In recent years this is clearly the best program and could not be otherwise, because in the year we are 45 years old it had to be better than last year,” he said.
The mayor said that the program of celebrations started on March 19, with exhibitions and documentary shows, but that the highlight of the party will be the night of April 24, with the performance of a musical spectacle in which the singer Sérgio Godinho.
The “Vozes ao Alto” show takes place at the Paz e Amizade pavilion, starting at 10:00 p.m., and together with Sérgio Godinho, other artists such as Rita Redshoes and conductor António Saiote, both natural of the county of Loures, as well as resistant antifascists
“It will be a show based on music, but with a strong visual component, which aims to provide the public with an immersive experience in the history and values and achievements of the revolution,” explained Paulo Piteira.
Another of the highlights of this celebration is also on the 24th with the inauguration of a monument evocative of the 45 years of April 25, 1974, a work by the sculptor José Aurélio, which will be placed next to the Park of the City of Loures.
The program also includes the realization of cinema cycles, with the projection of films and documentaries alluding to the revolution, and the organization of sporting events.
“There will be a lot to choose from. Above all, to say that April 25 will always be a street party and popular participation day,” he concluded.
