Full moon nights are back and with them comes “Art in the Village”. On the 27th, 28th and 29th, Peripécia Teatro will put on stage a show with a strong environmental message and an alert for the preservation of species: The Vulture Rehearsal. The creation, which brought together the theatre company and Palombar – an organization for the conservation of nature and rural heritage, came about to counter the public’s preconceived idea regarding scavenging birds. Through contemporary dramaturgy, moments of live music and a touch of humour, O Ensaio dos Abutres aims to raise public awareness of the important purpose of these birds in nature, particularly those that live close to the regions that are the species’ natural habitat. The show will be on stage at the Benagouro Cultural and Recreation Center (Vila Real).
The strong pedagogical component of the show has also given rise to a documentary, once again in partnership with Palombar. Reinforcing the importance of involving younger generations in issues of environmental sustainability and ecosystem preservation, awareness-raising activities are also planned in some schools in Vila Real. The Vulture Rehearsal can be seen on the 27th and 28th, at 9 pm, and on the 29th, at 5 pm. The performance on October 28th features simultaneous translation into Portuguese Sign Language, and the babysitting service is also available that day, completely free of charge, with activities dedicated to the little ones. The ticket costs five euros.
