Ivandro’s “Lua” makes history in Portuguese music as the first Diamante single

Released in 2022, the song was included in Trovador, the singer and composer’s debut album, released a year ago.

It quickly became one of the most listened to songs by the Portuguese public, alongside songs such as “Essa Saia”, “Imagina”, “Moça”, “Como Tu” or “Chakras” — authentic anthems stamped by Ivandro in recent years, whether in his own name or as a guest.

But “Lua” has long occupied a prominent place in the choices of fans of the singer and composer born in Angola and raised in Linha de Sintra.

Today, the single that is part of his debut album reaches an unprecedented milestone in its author’s discography: “Lua” is the first song to achieve the Diamond Award in Ivandro’s career, and only the third to surpass this goal in the history of Portuguese music.

Ivandro’s success is not limited to a single astronomical track. Because, precisely along with this famous theme in the spotlight, the entire career of the author of Trovador has been guided by excellence reflected in numbers. Released in 2019, “Essa Saia” was, in fact, Ivandro’s first major hit on a national scale — in a collaboration with Bispo, which would be repeated years later.

Whether solo or in collaboration with renowned figures in our region, the artist has been building his luxury repertoire to his specifications, until finally reaching his debut album: released in February of last year, Trovador revealed the point of maturation of an artist with immeasurable potential, in an album that features an impressive cast of participants — and that even surpassed the 100 million streams mark, becoming Platinum Record a few months after its release.

More than the numbers, it is the public itself that has made this judgment year after year, making Ivandro the most listened to national artist successively, with the awards won along the way emerging as a reflection of this value. The test of time has only shown that songs like “Lua” and many others do not fall into oblivion.
