Luca Argel releases “Acanalhado”
The third advance song from the album Visita
After the release of “Lampedusa” and “Anos Doze,” the first two singles from Luca Argel’s new studio album, titled “Visita,” comes now “Acanalhado.”
A theme that is included, in another version, in the album Bandeira, released in 2017, and that is revisited in this new work by the singer-songwriter in an intimate and collaborative version in which Luca Argel is accompanied by the keys of the Bahian pianist Pri Azevedo.
The new album Visita will be released on October 18, and in this new work, the Luso-Brazilian singer-songwriter revisits, in new versions, a series of songs from previous albums, in addition to some partnerships that had never been recorded in his voice and that are released for the first time in Visita.
And if we could condense a Janete Clair novel into a single song? Originally released in Bandeira (2017), “Acanalhado” is that. It is one of the themes I like to sing the most, and since then it has never left the setlists of my concerts. The story of a secret relationship, which for some reason no one can discover, not even after death, perfectly blends doses of melancholy and romanticism in the lyrics and melody. The new arrangement brought by this single explores this potential to the maximum, in an enigmatic piano bar mood under dim lights, where anonymous creatures cross the dawn searching for some anaesthesia for the pains of the heart.
– Luca Argel –
The new album Visita will be presented live in November in Porto, a city that welcomed Luca Argel when he moved to Portugal more than 10 years ago, and in Lisbon. On November 3, Luca Argel and Pri Azevedo will take the stage at Salão Ático – Coliseu Porto Ageas, and a few days later, on November 7, they will perform at Auditório Nova Cultura UNL (Pólo de Campolide), in a concert integrated into the Liberdade na NOVA Cycle which, throughout four months, from September to December, is dedicated to exploring the legacy of April 25 in Portuguese music and the dialogues between music and freedom in the work of younger Portuguese, Brazilian, and African artists with a strong relationship with intervention song.
Tickets for both shows are already available.
Parallel to the songs of Visita, Luca Argel launched, on September 6, the first episode of a MiniDoc divided into 5 parts. Filmed during the recording sessions of the album, this MiniDoc reveals to the audience a bit of the story behind the songs and the artists Luca Argel and Pri Azevedo.
