Luís Miguel Cintra and Jorge Silva Melo distinguished by the University of Lisbon
The actors and stage directors Luís Miguel Cintra and Jorge Silva Melo were distinguished with a doctorate ‘honoris causa’ by the University of Lisbon, a distinction that they recognize to be also those who create and study theater in Portugal.
Recognition was granted to them, on a proposal from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, where Luís Miguel Cintra and Jorge Silva Melo studied in the 1960s and began their journey in the theater.
In the ceremony of awarding the degree of doctor ‘honoris causa’, at the Rectory of the University of Lisbon, the praise to Luís Miguel Cintra was made by professor Maria João Brilhante, underlining a path that innovated and marked its time.
The praise for Jorge Silva Melo was made by professor José Pedro Serra, considering that the director, founder of the United Artists, is part of the great flow of the Humanities tradition.
