M.Ou.Co. upcoming cultural events

Involving artists and the local population of Porto, M.Ou.Co. tries, through strategic actions such as artistic residencies, workshops, shows, exhibitions, film screenings or fairs, to create an epicenter that encourages multiculturalism and promotes the approximation of cultures, adopting music as the main and aggregating concept.

A cultural space that is also a hotel conceived under the premise of responsible tourism, a refuge that is a concert hall, a bar that is a music library or a restaurant that is a gallery. Everything revolves around the music. In its facilities there is a vinyl record listening area, the rooms are designed for music-loving guests with decorations such as amplifiers, turntables or books about great artists and they can even lend their guests a guitar to give wings to their creativity. Everything at M.O.Co. exudes harmony, melody and rhythm.

In the remaining cultural agenda of December 2021, the M.Ou.Co. it also has a very busy calendar, with conversations, masterclasses, theatre sessions and concerts.

One of the main highlights of the program for the last month of the year 2021 starts this Friday, the 10th and ends on December 12th. The event Rap Global: Seiva Trupe at M.Ou.Co is a theatre show conceived from the book of poems “Rap Global”, published by Boaventura de Sousa Santos (Sociologist, University professor in Portugal, Brazil and USA, researcher and thinker) under the pseudonym Queni NSL West.

RAP Global has the actress Sandra Salomé in the direction and the hip-hop musician Fuse (Dealema) in the musical direction, who will participate in the show. The cast consists of Allex Miranda, Joel Sines, Miguel Branca and Teresa Fonseca e Costa.

The three-day program dedicated to the theme “Global Rap” also includes a conversation with Boaventura de Sousa Santos himself on December 11th at 5 pm.

Synopsis:
RAP Global places us in the scenario of an increasingly confused World, also using for this the symbolic of a plastic installation by Acácio Carvalho. Will it be an ‘underground’ musical? A ‘live video clip’? A ‘total theater’? It will undoubtedly be a unique spectacle.

On December 15th, the masterclass “Mental Practices in the Study of the Piano” with Flora Vezzá takes place, followed by a concert by Hania Rani with Dobrawa Czocher. This Polish duo of a pianist and a cellist have just released their first album “Inner Symphonies” and present it live in Porto for the first time on M.Ou.Co.

M.Ou.Co’s 2021 schedule ends with a concert by Clã, who bring their most recent and acclaimed album “Véspera“.
