Macau believes that Greater Bay will expand the event industry

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) believes that the project of the Greater Bay will allow the international expansion of the industry of events in the region, according to a communique released today by the authorities of the territory.

In a speech at the China Expo Forum for International Cooperation, which took place for the first time in Macao and outside mainland China, IPIM’s deputy chairman, Irene Va Kuan Lau, said that the conditions were in place for the event industry conquer other international markets, such as the Portuguese speaking countries, with the new regional integration project.

The Great Bay project aims to create a world-wide metropolis from the special Chinese administrative regions of Hong Kong, Macao and nine cities of Guangdong province (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing). with more than 60 million inhabitants.

Irene Va Kuan Lau said she is convinced that the territory will benefit in this area from its position as “world tourism and leisure centre” and “service platform for trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

The new edition of this event will take place between 10 and 12 January 2019, in the Chinese province of Hainan.
