Madeira Piano Fest until the 11th with five concerts and seven pianists

The Baltazar Dias Teather, in Funchal, is from today the stage for the fourth edition of Madeira Piano Fest, an event that includes five concerts featuring seven pianists.

The initiative is promoted by the Association of Friends of the Madeira Conservatory which marks its ‘Silver Wedding’ (25 years).

Yuri Didenko is the first pianist to perform at this festival, playing works by Rachmaninov and Tckaickovsky.

Sunday will be the turn of Xin Wang and Florian Koltrum, from Germany, with a four-handed recital based on works by Mozart, Brahms, Schubert and Rossini.

Next Wednesday, he plays the Portuguese Vasco Dantas who will present a program with his works, by Debussy and Mussorgsky.

November 10 will be another four-handed recital, this time featuring Italians Marco Sollini and Salvatore Barbatano.

The festival ends with the performance of the English pianist Peter Donohoe, with a program featuring sounds by Mozart, Schubert, Debussy, Scriabin and Messiaen.
