Madragoa is the big winner

Lisbon Popular Marches

Madragoa won the 2022 Lisbon Popular Marches contest. In second place was Alcântara and in third was Alto do Pina.

Avenida da Liberdade was filled with music, color and brightness during the 88th edition of the Lisbon Popular Marches. Two years after a forced stop, due to the pandemic, the Marches again paraded in the street, on the night of Santo António, singing “Amália é Lisboa” – winner of the Great March of Lisbon 2020 contest, the year of the centenary of the birth of the fado diva.

The 20 marches in the competition were evaluated in two moments – Altice Arena and Avenida da Liberdade – by a jury composed of Pedro Santos Franco (Jury President), Henrique Feist (Choreography Appreciation), José Costa Reis (Scenography Appreciation), Maria Luiz (Costume Appraisal), Mário Rainho (Lyrics Appreciation), Jorge Fernando (Music Appreciation), Filipa Pais (Global Appreciation) and Sofia Bicho (EGEAC Representative).
