Mãeana sings JG in Lisbon and Porto
Brazilian singer Mãeana returns to Portugal to perform the show “Mãeana canta JG” on May 22nd, in Lisbon at Music Box and on the 24th, in Porto at Sala M.Ou.Co. Tickets for these two shows are now on sale.
Mãeana, an entity and identity created by Ana Claúdia Lomelino in 2015, upon the release of her first solo album, after years as the lead singer of the group Tono, debuted in Portugal in 2018, precisely, on the Music Box stage.
His new show “Mãeana canta JG”, on show in Brazil for two years, is a meeting of songs immortalized by João Gilberto from Bahia and the current hits of João Gomes from Pernambuco. Juazeiro and Petrolina cross on a bridge built by Mãeana. “Pisa Nova” is what the singer calls this mix: the Piseiro beat with the intention of Bossa Nova.
The singer’s soft and distinctive voice is joined on stage by: Bem Gil (guitars) and Sebastian Notini (percussion).
About this show, Caetano Veloso wrote: “A very beautiful thing, Mãeana and Bem Gil at the Casa da Mãe Cultural Center. The notes of the songs recorded by João Gomes and João Gilberto in the singer’s voice become marvels. Several miracles happen. Very Lomelino scenery and costume: delirium and lucidity. From JG to JG, bad taste surrenders to good bad taste. Well, Gil shows immense intelligence and musical inspiration. I cried in amazement. The percussion of a European is an added wealth. It’s as if my tropicalism created a tiny, precious jewel.”
