Cerveira Cultural Forum receives solo exhibition by Mafalda Santos until October 26th.
The exhibition “Atelier Primeiro de Outubro” (“Atelier First of October“), held from Saturday at the Cerveira Cultural Forum, shows the work and space conquered by Mafalda Santos since she settled in Vila Nova de Cerveira.
The Biennial Brewery Art Foundation marks the return to programming, highlighting Mafalda Santos’ choice to settle on the ground in the district of Viana do Castelo.
The artist born in 1980, with a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto, set up a studio on Avenida 1º de Outubro, and hence the name of the exhibition.
The exhibition is curated by Helena Mendes Pereira.
From 2002 to 2007, Mafalda Santos was a programmer at the PêSSEGOpráSEMANA area in Porto, after she began exhibiting in 2001, and was a grant recipient of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2007/2008.
She was in artistic residency in New York, the fruit of this scholarship, in a year when she was a finalist for the EDP New Artists Award.
It is represented in various Portuguese collections, both private and public, such as the Chambers of Lisbon and Porto.
“Atelier Primeiro de Outubro” will be displayed from September 7th until October 26th
