This moment allows you to support the IPSS cause, also allowing you to watch the show “A Senhora de Dubuque” (“The Lady of Dubuque”) before the premiere.
On February 28th, at 9 pm, Teatro da Trindade Inatel will promote a solidarity rehearsal, to support Mansarda – the non-profit Social, Civic and Cultural Solidarity Association, whose mission is to support professionals in the artistic community to whom “life changed its course”. The rehearsal represents a unique opportunity to support this cause and, simultaneously, watch in advance the production of the play “The Lady of Dubuque”, by playwright Edward Albee. The show, created by director Álvaro Correia, is scheduled to premiere the following day, at Teatro da Trindade, where it will run until April 21st.
With performances by Alberto Magassela, Álvaro Correia, Benedita Pereira, Cucha Carvalheiro, Fernando Luís, Manuela Couto, Renato Godinho and Sandra Faleiro, “The Lady of Dubuque” portrays three friendly couples and a night of games that exposes the group’s weaknesses. The arrival of a fourth and mysterious couple will further shake up the dynamics between the couples. Tickets have a fixed cost of 12 euros and can now be purchased through the Ticketline platform. All box office revenue will go to Mansarda.
Support from cultural agents is “fundamental” for Mansarda
According to Patrícia Vasconcelos, founder of the Association, “The money raised will be a fundamental contribution to what is Mansarda’s main goal: to build a residence that supports, in temporary or permanent accommodation, people who are linked to the most varied aspects artistic activities, promoting generational interaction and artistic creation”.
The Mansarda Association was created in 2014 and, in 2020, the protocol with the Lisbon City Council that formalized the transfer of the land for the construction of the house was signed. “We take care of our own as we would like them to take care of us” – is the motto that moves the Association, which aims to support different generations of artists who have dedicated themselves, during a significant period of their careers, to the world of language, art and Portuguese culture and, in particular, the performing arts. Interaction between older and younger people, as well as the sharing of knowledge, experiences and various artistic expressions, are pillars of the Association, which has more than a hundred members.
A conference with the screening of one of the films that inspired Mansarda, “The Quartet”, is one of IPSS’s next initiatives, with the presence of international names from the arts and culture sector expected.
It should be noted that, in addition to joining the actions being promoted in favour of Mansarda, it is possible to support the Association by donating IBAN PT50 0036 0000 9910 5910 4751 0.
