Manuel Alegre receives the António Ramos Rosa National Poetry Award

The ceremony takes place on Saturday, September 4, at the Municipal Library of Faro

The awarding ceremony of the eighth edition of the António Ramos Rosa National Poetry Prize, which distinguished the book “Quando”, by the poet Manuel Alegre, takes place this Saturday, September 4, at 4 pm, in the auditorium of the Municipal Library of Faro.

This Award is an initiative of the Municipality of Faro, which has the high sponsorship of the Millennium BCP Foundation and the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, University of Algarve, JL – Jornal de Letras, Artes e Ideias, EVA Senses Hotel and restaurant “Tertúlia Algarvia”.

The Prize jury, consisting of poet, critic, and professor Nuno Júdice, Carina Infante do Carmo, professor at the University of Algarve and journalist and writer Isabel Lucas, unanimously decided to award the Prize to this work, bearing in mind that “it is a book in which the poet invests his long experience of writing and, at the same time, gives a very strong presence of the subjectivity lost in the present time, with the marks of the reality that we are living, but transcending the circumstance through a writing that breaks with the poet’s habits, and this renewal of one of the strongest voices in our poetry is noteworthy“.

In addition to the reading of poems by the awarded author, by Homero Flor, the award ceremony will include the presence and interventions of the Mayor of Faro, Rogério Bacalhau, the President of the Millennium BCP Foundation, ambassador António Monteiro, and the distinguished poet, Manuel Alegre.
