Marco Rodrigues was announced today as one of the guest authors for the 2025 edition of the Song Festival, being part of the list of 14 composers selected by RTP, along with 6 others who will participate through open submission.
Marco Rodrigues joined Tiago Machado, his longtime friend and collaborator, in the song they will present in the competition. This and all the songs will be released in January of next year.
Marco Rodrigues released his 7th Album, ‘Marco Rodrigues Sings Carlos do Carmo’, at the beginning of 2024, a tribute he made to his greatest reference in Fado. Since then, he has been on tour, with concerts that have already taken place in various cities in Portugal and internationally.
Marco Rodrigues is one of the most famous fadistas today. His achievements and awards are only a small part of what he has conquered over his two decades of career: Winner of two Grande Noite do Fado Awards and an Amália Rodrigues Revelation Award. The international and Portuguese press has praised Marco Rodrigues’s fado, heard in every corner of the world. “Fados da Tristeza Alegre,” which won the Amália Rodrigues Revelation Award in 2007, “Tantas Lisboas,” “Entre Tanto,” and “Fados do Fado,” which was nominated for the Latin Grammy for Best Folk Album.
