Maré de Agosto Festival starts tomorrow online
The festival kicks off with the Marian singer Isabel Mesquita, followed by ‘dance music’ by Jungle by Night and DJ Wise Guy.
On the second day, on Thursday, Miramar performs, which brings together the guitars of Peixe and Frankie Chavez, Santrofi, who brings “the infectious rhythms of Ghana”, and DJ Alex Moon.
On Friday, the Barmer Boys invade the screens with “contemporary folk from Rajasthan”, and the Brazilian band Francisco, el Hombre add a bit of rock and Mexican music to the folk, to make way for the improvised dance music of the Voyagers.
The festival ends with the performances of the Germans Le Fly, the reggae of Julian Marley, son of Bob Marley, and Empty V vs Nuno Calado.
Over the four days, it is possible to hear, from 9:30 pm, “Spirrit Talks”, conversations that address different views of the festival, and that invite names like Carlos Elias, Zé Maria Bairos, Luís Bettencourt, Antoine de la Borde , Alvarinho, Mário Laginha and Zeca Medeiros, but they also have several people responsible for organizing the festival.
