Maria Aurelina Valle honored with exhibition in Sintra
The Sintra City Council pays tribute to the painter Maria Aurelina Valle, with an exhibition of her works, at the Municipal Gallery – Casa Mantero, open from November 20th to January 8th.
The exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Aurelina Valle (Lisbon, 1921 – Algueirão, 2010), perpetuating her memory and her work. This is a distinguished tribute to an artist with a unique sensibility, who felt what she saw and mirrored those feelings on canvas in a unique way.
Maria Aurelina Valle loved nature, liked to portray urban and rural areas, places that were part of her life and her history, in order to leave her testimony for future generations.
These places, from her experiences, were always the raw material that served as the basis for building her edylic landscapes, where dream and reality are mixed. The artist used techniques that extolled the simplicity and beauty of the shapes that made up the atmosphere of the different landscapes.
The recognition of the artist’s artistic and professional career, and the fact that she has always had a strong connection with Sintra, make this tribute a moment of great significance.
Maria Aurelina Valle studied at the António Arroio School of Decorative Arts and at the National Conservatory, where she completed the Superior Piano Course. She also attended the Painting Course at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts.
She also dedicated herself to teaching music, did amateur theater as a rehearser, artist and composer and assiduously collaborated with the regional newspaper Vila Saloia (Algueirão).
Due to the recognition of her artistic and professional path and the connection she has always maintained with Sintra, she received the Municipal Medal of Merit, Bronze Degree, in 2002.
