Maria João is a living musical treasure, an artist recognized globally for her ability to reinvent herself and explore new sonic territories. With a career spanning more than four decades, his unique voice has traversed jazz, electronica and musical traditions from different geographies, always in search of the next discovery. Accompanied by João Farinha and André Nascimento, Maria João now presents Abundância, an album that reflects this creative restlessness and her return to her Mozambican roots.
Echoing her ancestry, Maria João flies between Lisbon and Maputo to create a work that will be released worldwide by Galileo Music on February 28, 2025, which fuses vocal expressiveness with soaring electronic textures. Produced by Luís Fernandes, Abundância reaffirms the singer’s artistic boldness by embracing new sound challenges and incorporating influences ranging from jazz to electronic experimentation and African sounds.
This concert at Teatro da Trindade marks the bridge between the worldwide launch of Abundância and its live performance, promising to be a unique celebration, where Maria João revisits her 40-year trajectory and presents this new recording to the public for the first time.
