Maria João competes at the Festival da Canção with the theme “Dia”

Maria João among the performers at the 2024 Festival da Canção, whose winner will represent Portugal in May in the city of Malmo, Sweden.

Maria João competes in this competition as an author and performer with the theme “Dia“. The lyrics are by Maria João herself, as is the music in partnership with musician and producer João Farinha.

“Dia” is sung in four languages: Portuguese, English and Changana, a language originally from Mozambique, origins of Maria João. The missing language is that of Maria João, the one that comes out of her soul when she sings.
