Mariano Pires, one of the most promising young drivers in our country, will participate this year in the Portuguese Championship of Speed at the controls of a Porsche 991 GT3 Cup, determined to show the level of performance that has guided his career.
The Ponte de Lima driver, after a career full of karting successes, has been confirming his potential in cars, having won the KIA Picanto GT Cup in 2018, while in 2019 he was fighting for the GT4 South title. European Series, at the controls of a Ginetta G55 GT4, becoming Vice-Champion. In the same season, he also represented Portugal at the FIA Motorsport Games in the Formula 4 category.
Last year, his career was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but he still participated in the 24 Hours of Portimão, proof that he integrated the 24H Series calendar, winning a fantastic second position at the helm of a Porsche Cayman GT4.
For 2021, Mariano Pires keeps his bet on Grand Turismo cars, participating in the Portuguese Championship of Speed at the controls of a competitive Porsche 991 GT3 Cup, which will be prepared by the Parkalgar Racing Team.
The most important track competition in our country this year will have four stages, starting between the 30th of April and the 2nd of May at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, an event that will be part of the program of the Portuguese Grand Prix of Formula 1.
The competition continues in Vila Real, which will host the Portuguese round WTCR on the 26th and 27th of June, with a return to the Algarve and a stop at the Autodromo do Estoril at the end of the season.
