‘Marias da Sé’, by Filipe Martins, wins the Sever Film Festival

The jury of the Sever do Vouga International Film Festival ‘Landscapes’ distinguished the film ‘Marias da Sé’, by the Portuguese filmmaker Filipe Martins, with the Long Film Prize, the organization announced today.

In the documentary, the prize for the best feature film was for the film ‘Meerim’ by Maria Lyass of Kyrgyzstan and the short film ‘In manus tuas’ by Milana Majar from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Animation Award went to ‘Rainy Recollection’ by the Iranian Masoud Ghodsieh.

The jury decided to award the Special Short Film Feature of Portuguese Fiction to ‘Before the Night Comes – Speaks of Antigone’, by Joaquim Pavão, the Short Special Mention of Fiction to the film ‘INMADUROS’, by the Argentine Jorge Ponce Betti, and Mention Special Short Documentary Film to ‘The Backwaters’, by Cletus Clement, Nigeria.

Also in the category of Documentary was awarded the Special Mention Long Feature to ‘New Life’, from Veysi Altay, Turkey, and also distinguished with the Special Mention Animation ‘Super Grandma’, Isabella Spadone (USA), and Special Mention Experimental Film ‘Geopoesis’, by the Brazilian Alexandre Salomão.

The international jury, which awarded prizes to films from 10 countries, was made up of filmmakers Antonio del Rivero Herrera (Mexico), Francisco Ávila (Portugal), Gustavo dos Santos (Portugal), João Católico (Portugal), Luís Santos Manuel Paula Dias (Portugal), Moghadaseh Rouhi (Iran), Nuno Caeiro (Portugal), Rui Nunes (Portugal), Sérgio Faisca (Portugal) and Vijitha Gunarathne (Sri Lanka).
