Artway Editions presents the album “Histórias para uma Flauta” (“Stories for a Flute,”) which focuses on the transverse flute and new Portuguese music.
Flautist Marina Camponês and pianist Diana Botelho Vieira joined forces to fill a gap in flute pedagogy, where contemporary works by Portuguese composers are scarce for various levels of instruction. Thus, “Stories for a Flute” was born, a project that involved commissioning new compositions, recording them, and making a double album and sheet music available to all flute students and teachers.
The launch will take place on November 6th, with a concert at 6 PM at the Adelina Caravana Auditorium, Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Braga. The album will be available on physical CD and digital platforms.
The enormous stylistic diversity of current Portuguese music is highlighted in this edition, which brings together seven creators: from a young composition student, Inês Pinto, to veterans Sérgio Azevedo, Eurico Carrapatoso and Eduardo Patriarca, passing through established names in new music such as Anne Victorino d’Almeida, Paulo Bastos and Daniel Bernardes. Among evocative atmospheres, some more popular, others experimental or minimalist, there is always an appeal to the worlds of fantasy and imagination of children.
