Mario Biondi and Herman José are the first confirmations of the Jardins do Marquês Festival
June 28 to July 9, 2025 in the Jardins do Marquês, Oeiras
The Jardins do Marquês – Oeiras Valley Festival returns in 2025 to the scene, which has already become well known, of the gardens next to the Palácio do Marquês de Pombal, in Oeiras, for another series of unmissable summer nights. From June 28th to July 9th, the Festival offers again 7 nights full of charm, sophistication and also the relaxation that comes with summer.
The first confirmed night could not have done better:
The warm and sensual voice of Mário Biondi and the greatest reference of Portuguese humour Herman José & Quarteto will go to the stage of Oeiras Valley on July 6, for two moments of music, humour and much talent, well up to the high expectations of the public of Jardins Marquês – Oeiras Valley.
Mario Biondi is a famous Italian performer, recognized for his deep, soft and slightly hoarse baritone voice, full of intensity and emotion in soul, R&B and jazz interpretations. Influenced by legends like Lou Rawls, Al Jarreau and Isaac Hayes, he developed a unique style that blends these references with a contemporary touch. Born in Catania, Sicily, into an artistic family, Biondi began singing in public at the age of 12. During his youth, he performed as a studio singer and in 1988 had the opportunity to share the stage with Ray Charles. His international highlight came in 2004, with the jazz-pop single “This Is What You Are”, recorded with the High Five Quintet, which quickly became a global success and an anthem of dance floors. In 2006, he released the album “Handful of Soul”, which consolidated his success and led to international recognition. It was followed by outstanding works such as “If” (2009), which was three times platinum in Italy, and “Sun” (2013), which reached the top places of the tops and featured collaborations with artists like Chaka Khan, Leon Ware and Al Jarreau. His passion for Brazilian music culminated in the album “Brasil” (2018), a tribute to the country’s sonority, with contributions from Ivan Lins, Ana Carolina and Daniel Jobim. Over more than 20 years of career, Mario Biondi has enchanted audiences around the world, exploring different musical traditions and consolidating himself as one of the most striking voices in international music. And all this perfectly combines with the atmosphere of the Festival Jardins do Marquês – Oeiras Valley where the Italian musician performs, on July 6.
Herman José occupies a unique place in the national artistic scene. His art is the perfect fusion of various expressions: humorous writing, musical composition, multifaceted interpretation and mastery as a storyteller. This explosive combination allows you to captivate audiences from all sociocultural strata and shine on any stage, from the most popular to the most erudite. Throughout his career, he was distinguished with important honours, such as the title of Commander of the Order of Cultural Merit in 1992 by President Mário Soares and the degree of Grand Officer of the Order of the Infante D. Henrique in 2023 by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. With a successful and widely recognized trajectory by the Portuguese, Herman continues to delight generations with his genius, humour and timeless talent. Their shows are like fingerprints: never two the same! With a breathtaking rhythm, the artist revisits iconic characters that marked his more than 50 years of artistic career, such as Feliz & Contente, Serafim Saudade, Tony Silva, Maximiana, José Esteves and Nelo. Among many hilarious stories, Herman involves the public in an experience full of music, where there is no lack of his great successes, from “Saca o Saca Rolhas” to “Canção do Beijinho”, passing by the march “Vamos Lá Cambada” and his anthem to the folia “És tão boa, és tão boa”. A unique journey of humour and music that only Herman knows how to provide, always showing his best – and this is what will happen on July 6, at the Festival Jardins do Marquês – Oeiras Valley.
